The Dangerous Naming Mistake.
Most EdTech founders are not building the wrong product.
They are calling it the wrong thing.
“Coaching” and “Academy” are not branding choices.
@xtudents-cohort
They are economic models.
According to the Cambridge Dictionary:
Coaching = training or instruction to improve performance
Academy = an institution for education
That difference is not semantic.
It defines:
- Revenue cycles
- User intent
- Completion behavior
- Market positioning
Yet most founders switch between them casually.
And in doing so—
They confuse their market.
By User’s Xperience,
If your users are coming to improve, you are coaching.
If they are coming to become, you are an academy.
